Five Easy Kitchen Cleaning Tips
The kitchen is sometimes referred to as the very soul of the house. And this makes it one of the most important places in our homes. This is the place where our food is prepared and often served, and this is also one of the places where the whole family spends more of their time together, which of course, is especially true for those of us, who love cooking. All this makes our kitchen the place, which unites the whole family together and nourishes the love, understanding, patience and mutual assistance between them.
However, it is the kitchen where some of the most dangerous bacteria in our home are gathered and that is the reason why it needs to be thoroughly and regularly cleaned. Of course, you always have the choice of calling and booking a professional NYC cleaning service company, but if you don’t want to spend these extra money on cleaning, you can do it yourself. All you need to do is make it properly. Here are a few tips that will make you easier to clean one of the biggest “hatcheries” of bacteria in your entire home and make it look nice, fresh and most of all, clean.
1. Take care of the kitchen counter
The kitchen counter is the place where you prepare most of the food for you and your family and that is the reason why you should keep it as clean as you can. Remember that wiping the counter with a wet sponge or a dry paper towel when you’ve done cooking is absolutely not enough. So, instead of doing that, you should clean it thoroughly. You can use some disinfecting cleaning product and wipe it with a clean wet sponge. Do not forget to dry the counter with another sponge or with a clean paper towel. Make sure you don’t use the same sponge that you are using for washing the dishes, because you will spread the bacteria even more.
2. Wash the kitchen sink regularly
You put literally everything in your kitchen sink, which is the reason why everything that falls in there may become a great breeding place for bacteria. That is why you need to wash the kitchen sink regularly with a sponge and a special sanitizing cleaning product, and then with some hot water.
3. Clean the kitchen sink taps
Do you clean your sink taps often? We bet you don’t. Now try to remember how many times you have used them during your last cooking. You can’t exactly count them, right? You touch literally everything in the kitchen, and then touch the sink taps, which helps the bacteria spread everywhere. So, in order to keep them clean and bacteria-free, make sure you clean them regularly with a special detergent, or use some eco-friendly cleaning products, such as white vinegar.
4. Wash the cutting board
You probably use a cutting board when preparing the meals for you and your family at home. However, your cutting board is a little sweet piece of heaven for microbes and bacteria. And yes, you probably wash the cutting board with some hot water and dish-washing detergent, but that is not enough. First, try to stay away from using a wooden cutting board. You better choose a plastic one and change it with a new one every six to eight months. In order to clean the cutting board soak it in a home-made solution of hot water and vinegar for a couple of hours and then wash it thoroughly.
5. Wash the kitchen towel regularly
Be honest and admit it – you don’t always wash your hands before you use the kitchen towel, right? No, you don’t. And believe it or not, this is a problem, because this way you spread the bacteria around the kitchen. In addition, the kitchen towel is moist most of the time, which make it a perfect microbes hatchery. Try to wash the towel you are using as often as you can, or simply change it with kitchen paper rolls.
